1. Get to know the camera
The first recommendation is to get to know the important parts of the camera and also the features and capabilities of your camera.
As a photographer, you should be integrated with your camera. Get to know and learn the functions of each button that is spread on your camera.
Please read here for an overview of camera parts and their functions.
2. How to Press the Shutter Button
The shutter button is the button you press to take pictures (taking pictures).
The way to press the shutter button on a DSLR camera is different by pressing the shutter button on the cellphone or smartphone camera.
Please read here to find out the correct way to press the shutter button.
3. Get to know Exposure
Exposure is the life of photography. So, it is highly recommended that you know and master everything related to exposure.
Read here to know what exposure is.
The explanation for the three exposure-forming elements (exposure triangle) is:
••Shutter speed (read the tutorial here)
••Aperture / diaphragm (read the tutorial here)
••ISO (read the tutorial here)
While other material that is closely related to exposure discussion is understanding how Light Meters work (read here).
After mastering the exposure triangle please do your experiment / practice using the camera simulator here.
4. Get to know the Shooting Mode
All DSLR cameras provide a choice of camera operations, ranging from easy (auto) to manual operating options, and all of these options are called shooting modes / modes.
But what I recommend here is only the shooting mode that is really needed in the development of photography. Please read here the article.
5. Knowledge of DSLR lenses
The camera is divided into two, namely the body and lens connected to the camera body.
For feature introductions and the number of buttons scattered in the camera body I have recommended in the first point above, then next for you to learn material that discusses camera lenses:
••Get to know the types of lenses (read here)
••Explanation of the code on the lens (read here)
••How to use focus on the lens (read here)
••Get to know the Image Stabilization or Stabilizer function (read here)
6. Adjust the Focus on the Camera
The use of focus is not just about the lens. There are additional settings that you need to understand how it works for how that focus really works optimally between the lens and the camera.
Erroneously setting the focus on the camera or not knowing at all is a fatal consequence and greatly affects the results of your image.
The following material I recommend:
••How to set AF Point or focus area points (read here)
••How to set AF Mode (read here)
7. Camera Settings
In addition to the exposure triangle, there are a number of camera settings that you need to master and this is closely related to the results of shooting or other words supporting the results of your photos and creations later.
The following material:
••Get to know the various types of shooting in Drive Mode (read here)
••Get to know White Balance (WB) and how to use it (read here)
••Get to know the Picture Style and how to use it (read here)
8. Two Basic Techniques
The first technique:
knowing how to properly frame a scene in accordance with photographic rules, this rule is known as the Type of Shot. Read here for further explanation including various types of shot.
The second technique:
it is highly recommended that you know the various angles of shooting (angle). For an explanation of this technique, please read the material here.
9. Learning to Compose Composition
After you have mastered all the material that I recommend above, then it’s time for you to get into the real beauty part of photography, namely composition.
Composing compositions can be easy and even difficult, sometimes benefiting from the situation and sometimes you also have to think hard so that the usual scenes become extraordinary.
Of course this needs practice. Because the composition is so that there seems to be a difference between professional images and images from beginners, even though both look faint in your eyes.
For the discussion the composition is quite long and I divide it into two articles. Please start by reading the first article here.
10. Know Photography Genre (Reference)
I mention this material as a basic reference for those of you who are beginners to get to know the characters of several popular photography genres.
Like music that has many genres, photography also has many streams of photography.
Please read here about the 10 most popular photography genres that are most in demand today.
Once again I remind you to learn gradually. Continue testing and play with your camera.
